Obituary for Mychajlina Holowczak
COVENTRY – Mychajlina Holowczak, 94, of Main St., died on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Joseph Living Center. She was born on October 2, 1920 in Ivan Franko Oblast, Ukraine, the daughter of Ivan and Maria (Kokatachuk) Andrajchuk. At the age of 30 she immigrated to the United States with her husband, Wasyl, and settled in Willimantic where she worked for many years in the local textile mills. They met in Germany and were married for many years until his passing in December of 1978.
Mychajlina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Although her life wasn’t always easy she kept a positive attitude, had lots of common sense, and loved adventure. At the age of 89 she wanted a ride in the boat on Lake Winnipesaukee and talked of travelling to Alaska.Â
She is survived by three children; Maria Dunton, Olga Bitzkowski, and Leo Holowczak and his wife Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Larysa Dunton, Stacy Dunton, Shannon Fultz and her husband Scott, Michael Hahn and Brendon Hahn and his wife Brandee; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Fultz and Joe Fultz, as well as many relatives living in Ukraine.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, at 10:00 am at the Bacon Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 6, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
