Obituary for Oksana Kolisnyk
Oksana Kolisnyk,of Willimantic, widow of Petro Kolisnyk, passed away June 7, 2008 in Hartford. She leaves behind her son, Eugene and his wife Nancy; grandchildren: Michael, Maryanne and Katherine, all of Jacksonville, FL. She also leaves several family members in her native Ukraine. Oksana was born in Ivankiv, Ukraine. During World War 2, she was taken, as a prisoner, to Germany to perform farm labor. She immigrated to the United States with her husband and son in April, 1951. Oksana worked for the Electro-Motive Co. and the Mansfield Training School until her retirement from the State of Connecticut in 1988. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. Oksana was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She was a friend to many and she was also supported by many friends and neighbors in Willimantic. She loved to make afgans and her Pyrohy were enjoyed by many in Florida. Oksana shared many blessings with many people. She will be missed dearly and may she rest in peace in the arms of the Lord. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6/10/08, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, CT with a Panakhyda Service at 7 p.m. A Panakhyda Service will also be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a procession to St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church for the Celebration of the Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
