Obituary for Oliva "Eva" Caisse Beckwith
Oliva “Eva” Caisse Beckwith, 100, passed away on Tuesday, 3/13/07, in Douglas Manor. She was born February 19, 1907 in Willimantic the daughter of Alexina and Alexis Caisse, Sr. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1928 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Manchester Hospital, Uncas on the Thames, and for several doctors including Dr. Andersen, and eighteen years for Dr. Roch. Her patience with people, her willingness to listen, her wisdom and gracious manner were a great consolation to all who came in contact with her. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Beckwith, her daughter, Carol Maine and her grandson, Jeremy Battcher. She was also predeceased by her nine brothers and sisters. She leaves five grandchildren: Brian LaPalme of Florida, Karen Slyman and her husband, Paul of Scotland, Nancy Battcher of Scotland, John LaPalme of Willimantic and Steven LaPalme of California. She also leaves ten great grandchildren: Jenniffer Wallace and her husband, Brian, Sarah, Curtis, and Nicole Chartschlaa, Jamie, Justine, Jessica, Jacob, and Jordan Battcher, and Brian Palmer. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 3/17/07, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic. Burial will follow in the Windham Center Cemetery in Windham. The family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
