Obituary for Phillip J. Lombardo
Lombardo, Phillip J. Phillip J. Lombardo, 90, of, North Windham, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening (January 7, 2009) at Windham Hospital. He was born in Willimantic on June 27, 1918 in Willimantic, CT., the son of Charles and Mary Lombardo. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees fan and adored and admired his Grandchildren throughout his later years, always asking for them and extremely proud of them as well as each of his Great Grandchildren. Quietly and proudly, he was always interested in their well being and loved to hear news and stories of their accomplishments and activities. He is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth; daughter, Jo-Ann and her husband Gary Pomo; son, Michael and wife Joyce Lombardo; beloved grandson, Christopher Lombardo; grandson, Eric and his wife Catherine Pomo and their son Alexander; granddaughter, Stacey and her husband Christopher Mazzaia and their children, Mia and Dominic; his brother, Michael (Mickey) and his wife Myrtle Lombardo; his sister Augustine (Dolly) and her husband Jack Carchidi. He is pre-deceased by his brother Louis and sisters Jennifer Charron and Josephine Lombardo. Friends may call at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic on Monday, January 12, from 9:30-11 AM. Services will be at 11 AM at the funeral home followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Club Road in Windham. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Windham Hospital Development Fund, 132 Mansfield Ave. Willimantic, 06226. The Lombardo family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Windham Hospital for the kind and compassionate care that was provided during his stay at the hospital.
