Obituary for Phyllis J. Lambert
Phyllis Jeanne (Giraca) Lambert, 82, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020, at Hartford Hospital. Phyllis was born in Willimantic on July 4, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Philip A. and Alma R. (Dube) Giraca. She worked for the State of CT for many years until her retirement. Phyllis was a communicant of St. Mary Church. She was a kind and friendly woman, dedicated to her children and was always available when called. She had a green thumb for her house plants, was an avid Bingo player, and Red Sox Fan. Over the years, she enjoyed various day and weekend travels as well as rainy day trips to the casino with her family. Phyllis had a lifelong bond with her two sisters which made for many cherished childhood memories with our cousins.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by her sons, David Lambert and his wife Joanna, of Lebanon, Mark Lambert and his wife Jackie, of Lebanon, Keith Lambert and his wife Brenda of Columbia, as well as her daughter Laurie (Lambert) Chick and her husband John of Tolland. She was blessed with the love of nine grandchildren, Jessica Chick, Justine Bertora (husband Nick), Stacey Lambert, Corrine Lambert, Rachel Lambert, Alyssa Lambert, Riley Lambert, Kailey Chick, and Finn Lambert. Phyllis also leaves behind her best friend and sister Betty Urban and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her son, Philip A. Lambert and her sister, Anne Piontek. Our hearts will hold her memory close.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday Sept 22, at 11AM at St. Mary Church 57 Valley St, Willimantic. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis’ memory to the Covenant Soup Kitchen, 220 Valley St., Willimantic, CT. 06226 or to St. Mary Church, 80 Maple Ave., Willimantic, CT. 06226.
