Obituary for Raymond Roland Drouin
Raymond R. Drouin, 82 passed way on July 16, 2010 with family at his side at the Osceola Hospital in Kissimmee, FLA. Ray was born on 1/11/1928 and was the youngest of 11 children born to Arthemise Baron and Arthur Drouin. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic and attended Windham High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and is a WWII veteran. He was inducted to the Knights of Columbus in l959 and was a life member of the American Legion. He married Theresa St. Cyr in 1948 and they raised 9 children in Windham, Ct.

Ray worked as the Facilities Supervisor at the University of Connecticut, Storrs and retired after 31 years. Upon his retirement in 1978, he relocated to St. Cloud, Florida and owned and managed rental properties for the past 32 years.  He developed a love for flowers and became an avid gardener. He extended himself to many people who were not fortunate or alone and, supported organizations such as Boys Town, The National Wildlife Foundation, Alzheimer’s Organization, and Maryknoll.Â

Ray is survived by nine children: Pauline George, Paul Drouin, Arthur Drouin, Pierre Drouin, Jeanette Kegler, Charles Drouin, Patrick Drouin, Andrew Drouin, and Carol Paddock. He enjoyed nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His two remaining brothers, David Drouin and William Drouin as well as numerous nieces and nephews reside in the Willimantic area. He has extended family that resides in St. Julian and Black Lake, Canada. His sister, his parents, and seven brothers preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be from 6 – 8 pm on Friday August 6, 2010 at Bacon Funeral Home 71 Prospect Street, Willimantic, CT.  Funeral Mass will take place Saturday August 7, 2010 at 12 noon, St. Joseph’s Church 99 Jackson Street Willimantic, CT. The burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Club Road Windham, CT with full military honors.
