Obituary for Robert Desruisseaux
J. E. Robert (Bob) Desruisseaux, 86, of Willimantic entered the hands of the lord on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Douglas Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation center in Windham following a brief illness.
Robert was born on August 1, 1933 in Willimantic, a son of the late Romeo T. and Annette (Blanchette) Desruisseaux. He attended Saint Mary school and Windham Technical High School and was employed as a maintenance worker at Windham Hospital where he retired after 15 years of service.
A devoted family man, Robert married his beloved wife Barbara (Blish) on December 27, 1952 at St. Mary Church in Willimantic.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, he leaves behind a daughter Deborah Godbout of Willimantic and a son Michael Desruisseaux of North Windham, a grandson Jason Godbout of Willimantic, and 2 granddaughters; Nicole Godbout of Willimantic and Kylie Desruisseaux of Coventry.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter Renee Lyn Godbout of Willimantic and a son-in-law Jean-Pierre Godbout of Willimantic.
Robert will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man who loved not only his family but also his animals. Quick with a witty remark, Bob always had a joke or funny comment to add to any situation. Bob enjoyed doing projects around the house including spending time in his garage burning firewood while listening to Pink Floyd.
Bob’s loving, caring and nurturing personality will be missed by many, especially his family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 14, at 11AM at St. Mary Church 57 Valley St, Willimantic. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham.There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111 or online at cthumane.org.
