Obituary for Robert E. Tatro
Robert “Bob” E. Tatro, 88, of Willimantic, CT, died peacefully Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Regency Heights of Windham.  He was born February 2, 1921, in Coventry, CT, son of Peter Tatro and Irene (Mathieu) Tatro.  Bob was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Fern (Johnson) Tatro.  He was a World War II Navy Veteran serving on amphibian forced landing vessels in the Pacific.  Bob was a bus driver for Arrow Line and also worked at Ray’s Oil Service for many years.  He was a Life Member of the Willimantic B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1311, Life Member of the Franco-American Civic and Social Club, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion James J. Shea Post 19, and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic.  Bob was a devoted husband and traveled extensively with his wife to many foreign countries.  He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and never missed a University of Connecticut Men’s or Women’s basketball game.   His survivors include niece Mary Lou Yourconis of Willimantic, great niece Jacqueline Benoit of Coventry, and great nephew Raymond Benoit of Washington, DC.  Bob was predeceased by his older brother, Raymond Tatro, of Willimantic.  Bob’s family is grateful for the devoted care he received as a resident at Regency Heights of Windham during the past several years, and so extends sincere thanks and appreciation to all staff members.The family will receive friends Monday, November 2, 2009, at 10:00 am at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect Street,Willimantic.  Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Church at 11:00 am followed by burial with Full Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Church Repair Fund, 80 Maple Avenue, Willimantic, CT.
