Obituary for Roland A. Maheu
Roland A. Maheu, 85, of Coventry, husband of the late Theresa (LaChappelle) Maheu, died July 29, 2006 at home. He was born August 17, 1920 in Willimantic the son of Lucien and Lucille (Boisvert) Maheu. He worked for the Manning Supply Co. and later was a self-employed farm equipment repairer for many years. During World War 2, he served in the Army Air Corps first, as a trainer of military machinery repair in England and France and later, as a tailgunner in a B-17 bomber. He recently fulfilled his dream of visiting all fifty states of the union and the Pearl Harbor Memorial. His survivors include his children: Suzanne and Robert Hill of Coventry, Linda and William Hill of Willimantic, Arthur and Sandy Maheu of Coventry and Donna and Fernand Gagnon of Mansfield; his grandchildren: David and Chris Hill, Michael Hill, William and Mary Hill, Jr., Jennie Rossiter, Tricia and Dave Beal, Valerie and Dale Sorter, Jason and Ann Maheu, Jesse and Jill Maheu, Lea Gagnon and Stacy Gagnon. He also leaves several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Robert Hills, Jr. and eight brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, 8/2/06, at 10 a.m. in the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham.
