Obituary for Roland E. Ives
Roland E. Ives, 83, of Lake Worth, Florida, formerly of Willimantic, passed away Friday, September 1, 2006 at John F. Kennedy Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL. Born in Willimantic to the late Rufas and Aldea Ives, he retired in 1976 from Colonial Board (formerly Lydall and Foulds of Manchester, CT) and moved to Lake Worth, FL. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Willimantic and St. Luke’s Church of Lake Worth, and was active with St. Vincent DePaul Church in Lake Worth during his residence in Florida. He was a lifelong member of the Elks, Lodge 1311, the Franco-American Club in Willimantic and a member of the Teamster Union, Local 671. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Doris (Heon) Ives; four sons: Roland E. Ives, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL, Frederick E. Baker, III of Colchester, CT, Eugene P. Baker of Preston, CT, William C. Baker of Willimantic and a daughter, Judith Jello of Windham. Six grandchildren also survive him: Shawn Ives of Canterbury, Chad Baker of Norwich, William Baker, Jr. of Montville, Frederick Baker, IV of Colchester, Justin Baker of Colchester, Emily Baker of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Norbert Ives and Shirley (Ives) Vincent and three grandchildren, Kristie and Kevin Ives and Regina Baker. Calling hours are on Thursday, Sep. 14, at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service following. At the request of the family, the burial service will be private.
