Obituary for Ronald L. Belanger
Ronald Louis Belanger passed away peacefully on January 13, 2009 at Windham Community Memorial Hospital.   Born in Willimantic on October 3, 1931 to Louis and Stella (Michaud) Belanger he was 77 years old.  He was predeceased by his wife Alberta (Legace) Belanger, his two daughters Susan and Lisa, his two brothers Raymond and Nobert, and a special sister-in-law Blanche Glidden.  He is survived by two daughters Cathy Chasse and her husband Dennis of Bristol and Debra Belanger of Willimantic and his only grandchild Christopher who he loved and will miss with all his heart.  He also leaves behind a sister Ann Mott, a sister-in-law Christine Legace, a special niece Linda Fraser, and several other nieces and nephews.  He was a high school graduate and a Cpl. in the U.S. Army having served courageously in the Korean Conflict.  He worked at Wile Motors in Columbia as an Auto Technician and after his retirement he enjoyed spending his free time with his grandson Chris who kept him young and later cared for him as he battled with a failing heart.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors taking his family on yearly camping trips.   He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed long rides in the country on his Honda Gold Wing and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.  He was an extraordinary father and grandfather and was loved more than he could ever know.  He loved children and delighted in raising his grandson Chris who was the boy he never had.  Finally, it was baseball and fishing instead of dolls and clothes.  No matter, he did both exceptionally. Ronald’s family would like to extend their appreciation to Windham Community Memorial Hospital CCU/ICU and 4 Shea staff, Medical Pharmacy, and the VNA East.  We would especially like to thank Jayne Yacniuk, RN and Dr. Abdul Alkeylani for their sincere concern and devotion to  his care over the years.  His Funeral Mass will be celebrated January 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Church in Willimantic followed by a Christian burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Windham.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Ronald’s name to the VNA East, 35 Ledgebrook Drive, Windham, Ct. 06250.  We, his surviving family are comforted by the thought that he is now reunited in the arms of his beloved wife and daughters. We will love and miss him all the days of our lives.
