Obituary for Ronald Patrick Murphy
Ronald Patrick Murphy passed away peacefully at home on Wed. night Oct 10, 2012, with his wife and son at his side.  Ron was born in Willimantic, Ct on Jan. 31, 1933, son of the late Leona Brindamour and George Murphy.  He attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Windham High, class of 1951.  He then graduated from Willimantic State Teachers College in 1956 and received a Masters Degree and a 6th year from Uconn.  Ron taught a total of 34 years:  5 years in Coventry, grades 7 & 8; and 29 years @ Krammer Middle School, math; grades 7 & 8.  Ron was a dedicated professional, and a member of the CEA, NEA, and the Windham/Tolland Retired Teachers Assoc.  He was also a member of ATOMIC, where he served as treasurer for 10 years, and a full life member of the Elks Lodge BPOE 1311, where he worked on the scholarship and youth activity committee.  In retirement he participated in the Elks bowling league, and setback league.  Ron loved the outdoors, and enjoyed many summers @ Camp Hazen in Chester, Ct., working on the waterfront, and then as village director.  He and his family enjoyed many camping experiences, including a cross country trip in 1971, and many summers spent on Lake George in Wales, Ma.with family and friends.  Ron was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Church.  He loved his church and participated in many activities there.  He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years Annette, and his sons Patrick of Coventry, Ct., and Michael and wife Ivy of Summerville, SC.  His 2 grandchildren:  Nicole Svencicki, and Kyle Murphy of Valley Stream, NY., and 2 great grandchildren, Avery and Chloe. He also Leaves his sister- in- law and brother- in- law, Carmelo & Alfia Zimmitti, their children, and grand children. He leaves 2 aunts in Middletown:  Josephine D'Antonio, and Eleanor Mazzotta.  He leaves one Aunt, Doris Rondeau of Polk City, FL, and several cousins.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank the staff of VNA East for the care and support of the last few weeks during these trying times.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church Renovation Fund,  99 Jackson St.  Willimantic, Ct  06226, or for camper ships @ Camp Hazen, 204 Main St., Chester, Ct  06412.
 Calling hours are:  6 to 8pm Friday Oct. 12, 2012 @ Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect, St.,  Willimantic, Ct  06226.  A Funeral Mass will be held Sat. Oct. 13, 2012 @ 11:00 @ St Joseph Church,  99 Jackson St. Willimantic, followed by the burial @ St Joseph Cemetery. Then all are invited to a  reception @ St Joseph Church hall.
