Rosemary Lyon, 87, a longtime resident of Mansfield CT. passed away on May 6, 2020 at the St. Joseph’s Living Center, Willimantic CT. Rosemary was born in New London, CT and was preceded in death by her parents Alice and Richard Abood, and her brother Phillip Abood of Jacksonville Florida. She is survived by her sister Barbara (William) Sledjeski of Centreville Virginia. She was a graduate of Windham High School and worked many years as a dedicated Paraprofessional in the Mansfield School system. Rosemary was certainly an inspiration to our entire family, sharing her kind and caring spirit with everyone around her. Her smile was unforgettable; she was a beautiful person inside and out and left a lasting example for all of us as to how to live life well. Her motto was, “If there is room in the heart, there is room at the table.” Rosemary was always preparing a variety of delicious Lebanese meals for family and friends. She had a gift of serving and a caring heart of gold; she was a teacher of kindness! Rosemary loved to cook, garden, sew, was an avid reader and loved the beach. She was always up for a fun adventure and cherished her time and memories made with her family.
Rosemary was a devoted mother to her 3 children: her 2 sons; Richard Lyon of Rosharon Texas, Gregory (Jane) Lyon of Wilkesboro North Carolina and was preceded in death by her daughter, Allyson (Andrew) Caputo of Avon Connecticut. Rosemary is also survived by her 7 grandchildren; Christopher (Lindsay) Lyon, Wesley (Jaclyn) Lyon, Bethany (Carl) Thacker, Allison Dillard, Anna (Adam) Cowdin, Vincent Caputo, AJ Caputo and her 6 great-grandchildren; Aniston, Brooks, Maddox, Piper, Emmy and Dillard. Rosemary was preceded in death by her former husband, Alan W. Lyon and is survived by her sisters-in-law; Gerry and Arlene Lyon and Joyce and Bernice Smith.
Her family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Living Center for their wonderful and attentive care for Rosemary during her stay there.
