Serene (Desautels) Gamache, 86, of Willimantic and St.Cloud, FL passed peacefully into Eternal Life unexpectedly Feb. 28, 2010 in Leesburg Hospital (FL) after a brief illness. Born
July 19, 1923 in Quebec, Canada to Leonard and Yvonne (Blais) Desautels. Serene moved to Willimantic to work for American Thread and later married Welley Gamache. She was a devoted homemaker & mother while working many years for Electro-Motive then Rogers Corp. Before retirement, she worked for Franklin Mushroom Factory. Serene was a member
of St. Mary's Church of Willimantic and it's St. Anne's Society; a member of both Willimantic and St. Cloud Senior Centers. She was a very skilled shuffleboard player and won many awards. Serene enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, and cooking for her many friends. With her warm-hearted nature and cheerful smile, she befriended all she met and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her 2 daughters,  Blanche Pracukowski of Leesburg, FL and Doris Neff of Avon, CT, and her son, Aime Gamache, of Storrs; 6 grandchildren and 11
great grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends. Serene was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Welley; son, Gene; and her second husband, Francis Chicoine.  Her children will receive family and friends at Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic Thurs3/4/10, from 6-8pm and funeral mass at St. Mary Church Fri, 3/5/10, at 10am. Internment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Windham.
