Obituary for Theresa M. (Therrien) Desjarlais
Theresa M. (Therrien) Desjarlais, beloved wife of the late Leo Desjarlais, died peacefully June 12, 2011 at home. She was born August 28, 1933 in Willimantic the daughter of the late Alfred and Rose (Cote) Therrien. Theresa was predeceased by six siblings, 3 brothers: Roger, Maurice and Homer Therrien and 3 sisters: Ruth Therrien, Fern Insalaco and Doris Tellier. She enjoyed sports along with her husband Leo and participated in the WYO programs and midget football leagues. Theresa worked at Electro-Motive and also UConn in the maintenance department before retiring in 1988. Theresa had an absolute love of life and for her family. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Debbie Desjarlais of Windham Center, a daughter Nancy and her husband Michael McNee of Windham; grandchildren: Carli Grauer and her husband Jason of Willimantic, Aubrey Desjarlais of Windham, Kristina McMahon of Waterford and Timothy McNee of Storrs. She also leaves 4 great grandchildren: Kayli McMahon, Anthony McNee, and Gryphon and Chloe Grauer. Theresa was blest to have received the best of care from VNA, A Caring Hand, Dr. Jones and his staff. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. There will be a celebration of Theresa’s life at a memorial service on Thursday, June 16th at 10 am at the First Congregational Church, 4 North Rd. in Windham Center followed by internment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Windham. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
