Obituary for Victor P. Piecyk
Victor P. Piecyk, died at home Monday, May 15, 2006, after a lengthy illness. He was born May 31, 1912 in New York City to Victor and Anna (Slowik) Piecyk. The family moved to Eastford when he was a child. He lived with his late wife, Lillian Ann (Brecka) Piecyk in Ashford for 64 years. He worked for the U.S. Postal Rail Service as a mail sorter, traveling from Boston to N.Y. and often to Montreal for 30 years. Upon retiring from the Postal Service, he worked in the Windham Hospital Central Supply Room for 10 years. In his Earlier Years, he enjoyed playing the violin and banjo, later, he became an avid, amateur photographer, and, for many years, grew and propagated orchids as a hobby. His survivors include seven sons: V. Peter Piecyk, III and his wife, Jean of Ashford, Phillip J. Piecyk of California, Theodore F. Piecyk and his wife, Rosemarie of Pomfret, Carl A. Piecyk and his wife, Elizabeth of Suffield, Leon Conrad Piecyk and Thomas M. Piecyk of Ashford and Michael C. Piecyk and his wife, Paula of Texas. He also leaves eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, his sisters: Stella Mahalawich, Frances Klukowski, and Carolyn Tanajes, a brother, Frank Piecyk and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Carroll. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 5/19/06, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Philip the Apostle Church in Warrenville. Burial will follow in St. Philip Cemetery also in Warrenville. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Friday, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: Hospice of Northeast CT, 320 Pomfret St. Putnam, CT 06260 or the American Cancer Society or St. Philip the Apostle Church, 64 Pompey Hollow Rd. Ashford, CT 06278, Where he was a communicant and one of the builders of the church.
