Obituary for Walter E. Young

Walter E. Young, 87, of Lebanon, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2009.  He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Theresa (Murphy) Young.  Born on May 25, 1922 in Coventry, he was the son of the late Daniel Young and Alice Hibbard Young.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold and William and a sister Ruth.   He was a proud veteran of the U.S Navy and served in the Pacific and Europe for 3 years during World War II.  He worked for many years as an auto body technician at Leonard Motor Company and C&S Ford in Willimantic before retiring from Quesnel Auto Body in 1982.  He loved being outside and working in his yard and garden and he loved to paint.  He was a charter member of the Willimantic Paints and Palette Club and exhibited in many area art shows.  He also loved his family very much.  Besides his wife Theresa, he leaves five children, Mary and husband Christopher Kelly of Killingworth, Walter Jr. and wife Uta of Scottsdale, Arizona, Joan (Coley) and husband Tom Montemerlo of Lebanon, Dave and Chuen-Tai of Phoenix, Arizona and Tim of Brooklyn and 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; three sisters Anne Gorgone of Willimantic, Marion Coriaty of Manchester and Alice Faulk of Onset, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews. 
There will be no calling hours.  A Memorial Mass to celebrate Walter’s life will be held Friday, December 11, at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph’s Church on Jackson Street in Willimantic, with burial to immediately follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Connecticut Hospice, Inc.  100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
