Obituary for Wilfrid J. (Fred) Lebeau
Wilfrid J. “Fred” Lebeau, 72, of Mansfield Center, CT passed away on February 13, 2017 in Willimantic, CT. He was the son of Wilfrid F. and Rita Lebeau of Willimantic. Fred is survived by his wife Nancy E. Lebeau, his brother Leo A. Lebeau of Hopkinton, RI and his daughter Cheryl L. Radzvilowicz and her husband Michael of Mansfield Center, CT. He is predeceased by his brother Robert E. Lebeau. Fred was born in Willimantic, graduated from Windham High School and attended the University of Hartford. He was employed by and later owned and operated the family business, W.F. Lebeau Plumbing & Heating. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Navy Mobile Construction Battalion-Seabees M.C.B 58 during the Vietnam War. Fred was a member of the Windham Chamber of Commerce and served as President in 1995. He was a life member of the Willimantic Lions Club and served as President in 1979-1980. He was Cabinet Secretary/Treasurer of Connecticut Lions District 23C from 1992-1994. The Willimantic Lions Club presented a Melvin Jones Fellowship to Fred in 1995 and he was recognized as a Knight of the Blind in 2006. Fred was also a life member of the Willimantic Elks Club. Fred was actively involved in Lions Club meetings and attended events and conferences. He enjoyed traveling to Seabees M.C.B. 58 reunions across the country. Fred will be greatly missed by his family and many close friends. Calling hours will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St., Willimantic, CT. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 46 Valley St., Willimantic on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Burial, with full military honors, will immediately follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Club Rd. Windham. Donations to St. Mary Church Repair Fund, 80 Maple Ave., Willimantic, CT 06226, would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
