Obituary for Sophie (Kaminski) Apt
Sophie (Kaminski) Apt, 94, of Willimantic, CT, beloved widow of Harold G. Apt who died on March 10, 1984, died November 27, 2008 in Douglas Manor in Windham. She was born October 22, 1914 in Willimantic the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Kaminski. Mrs. Apt was employed by the American Thread Co. for over 20 years. She previously worked at the Electro-Motive Co. and prior to that for the Colt Firearms Mfg. Co. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. She loved boating, fishing and traveling with her family including the many trips to the Florida Keys. The family is very grateful to the nurses and aides of Douglas Manor for the exceptional care given to Sophie. Her survivors include two sons, Howard G. Apt and Robert W. Apt of South Windham; three grandchildren, Rhonda, & Richard Apt and Jennifer Doherty. She also leaves two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Lindsay Doherty.The family will receive friends Wednesday, 12/3/08, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bacon Funeral Home, 71 Prospect St. Willimantic followed by burial in the Windham Center Cemetery.
